Genital warts and herpes are both common sexually-transmitted infections, but each has different symptoms and are caused by different viruses. Genital warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), while herpes is caused by two types of viruses: herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1) and herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV2).
